When Doors Were Art

I took this photo in Cusco, Peru, and what drew me in was how much this door stood out.

At first, it was the deep green colour and the unique structure that caught my eye, but the more I looked at it, the more I appreciated how much time and effort must’ve gone into making something like this.

It reminded me of how architecture used to be, when even a simple doorway was made to stand out.

Back then, people took pride in adding detail and character to everyday things. You can feel that history in this frame.

Today, everything is about being minimal and efficient, and while there’s value in that, it also makes you realise what’s been lost. 

This photo is a reminder of the contrast, between what was and what is. And I wanted to capture that before it fades even more.
